Saturday mornings at the Moruya markets are one of my favourite coastal rituals.
I love waking early and wandering the riverside market stalls. I love eating freshly cooked pizza for breakfast and watching the sea plane take off and come back again.
I love the nostalgic smells of frying cinnamon doughnuts and of hot roasting almonds. I love the icecream made fresh with blueberries from the local Clyde River Berry Farm.
I love the fruit and nut sourdough bread, and the man with the watermelon and dukkah. I love the flower man too, with his beautiful big posies of natives.
I love that we’ll leave with a bag full of goodies, or sometimes not much at all. It’s a ritual that I’ve come to cherish and look forward to almost every visit.
The Moruya markets are on every Saturday morning from 7.30am to 1pm at Riverside Park.
